Part1. Subscription

-Mobile communication corporations in Korea : SK Telecom, LG Telecom, KT

Below is information how to subscribe mobile phone for foreign residents in Korea bar U.S servicemen, diplomats, and other special cases.

=SK Telecom=

- Deposit money 200,000 won (In case of subscribing a flat rate system at special agency, deposit money is 50,000 won)
- Materials for subscription

(1) General foreign residents

1)Nominee: Foreigner registration card
(In case of advance payment system: the certificate of foreigner or passport)
2)Agent: Foreigner registration card, identification of agent
(In case of advance payment system: the certificate of foreigner or passport, identification of agent)
3)Foreign residents under age 19
-Oneself: Underage foreigner registration card, certification of seal of legal representative, consent form , family relation identification
-Legal Representative (Oneself is below age 14)
:The certificate of foreigner registration(family relation identification –this can be issued at district immigration office), consent form, foreigner registration of legal representative
-Legal Representative (Oneself is above age 14)
:The certificate of foreigner registration(family relation identification –you can issue it at district immigration office), consent form, foreigner registration of legal representative, underage foreigner registration card

[Notes]

- Customer have to request specification of family relation at the certificate of foreigner registration to district immigration office (only family members share same address)
- Issue of underage foreigner registration card: eligible for above age 14
- Married underage foreigner who were certificated by insurance company by submitting of certificate of marriage: is available without consent from legal representative

=KT=

1. Materials for subscription: foreigner registration card
[Notes]
-By issuing ‘certificate of family relation of Korean’, family relation between foreigner and Korean can be certified. (Certificate of family relation certifies only contents of spouse, parents, and children)
-Payment is by credit cards published in Korea and electronic transfer of account opened in Korea (opening accounts requires passport or foreigner registration)
-if you delegate transcription procedure to agent, the procedure requires identification card of agent and consent form certifying your intention to transcribe, and the consent form should contain your signature, which is same with that on your passport.
-installment subscription is not available except for Residency (F2), Overseas Korean(F4), and Permanent resident(F5)

=LG Telecom=

1. General foreign residents
(1) Advance payment system
1)Nominee: Passport or identification card of nominee(foreigner registration)
2)Agent: Passport or identification card of nominee(foreigner registration), identification card of agent
(2) Deferred payment system
1)Nominee: Identification card of nominee(foreigner registration)
2)Agent: Identification card of nominee(foreigner registration), identification card of agent

2. Underage foreign residents
(1) Nominee, legal representative, agent + legal representative
:Identification card of nominee(foreigner registration), certificate of foreigner registration, foreigner registration of legal representative, consent form of legal representative (including signature of representative), account of legal representative or nominee

1) Certificate of foreigner registration issued by immigration office, it must contain family relation to certify legal representative
2) Account : copy of bankbook or credit card
If family relation cannot be certified by certificate, subscription is unavailable.
Ex) underage foreigner residing in Korea alone
